9.2.3 Under- or Over-processed Tissue – Reagents
Are the
reagents
physically
correct?
Check:
· reagent concentrations with a
hydrometer
· the reagent change and final reagent
thresholds
· bottles are in their correct stations
· the reagents in the bottles are correct
· reagent storage conditions
· reagent threshold check method
Are they all correct?
Check:
· reagents are clean
Factors that could affect reagent purity are:
· recycled reagents
· running reprocessing protocols
· failing to clean the retorts before or after
remote drain or fill operations
Stop
Well processed tissue
Discard incorrect or dirty
reagents. Rinse reagent
bottles and fill and drain
retort with fresh reagent to
clean reagent lines.
