7.7 Acceptance
7.7.1 Description
The machine manufacturer has to check and verify the operability of the safety functions
used.
Test engineer
The machine manufacturer has to authorise a person as test engineer who on the basis of
technical training and knowledge with regard to the safety functions is able to carry out
the inspection.
Test report
The test engineer has to document the result of the inspection of each safety function
within a test report and sign it.

Note!
If parameters of the safety functions are altered, the test engineer has to
repeat the inspection and document the results within the test report.
Scope of the inspection
A complete inspection includes:
ƒ Documenting the system including the safety functions:
– providing an overview screen of the system
– describing the system
– describing the safety equipment
– documenting the safety functions used
ƒ Checking the serviceability of the safety functions used:
– function ”safe torque off”, STO
– function ”safe stop 1”, SS1
– function ”safe stop 2”, SS2
– function ”safe operating stop”, SOS
– function ”safely limited increment”, SLI
– function ”safe direction of movement”, SDI
– function ”safely limited speed”, SLS
ƒ Developing the test report:
– documenting the functional test
– checking the parameters
– signing the test report
ƒ Creating the appendix with test records:
– records from the system
– external records
