Chapter 3

Before You Start

Before you configure the Stratix 5100 WAP, make sure you are using a computer
connected to the same network as the access point, and obtain the following
information from your network administrator:

A system name for the access point

The case-sensitive wireless service set identifier (SSID) for your radio

network.

If not connected to a DHCP server, a unique IP address for the access

point (such as 172.17.255.115).

If the access point is not on the same subnet as your computer, a default

gateway address and subnet mask.

A Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) community name and

the SNMP file attribute (if SNMP is in use).

If you use IPSU to find the wireless device IP address, the access point

MAC address. The MAC address can be found on the label on the bottom
of the access point (such as 00164625854c).

Login to the Stratix 5100
WAP

Use the IP address of the WAP to go to Device Manager. If you don’t know the IP
address of the access point, see

Logging into the Access Point on page 57

for

instructions on assigning an IP address to the access point.

Follow these steps to use the web browser interface:

1. Open your browser.

The web browser interface is fully compatible with these versions of
software.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 and Firefox 27 on pages 7
Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 on pages 98, 2000 and XP

platforms

Netscape version 7.0 on pages 98, 2000, XP, and Solaris platforms

2. Enter the IP address for the Stratix 5100 WAP in the address field.
3. Enter the Username and Password and click OK.

The Summary Status Home page appears.
