Ascent Xtrata Pro User's Guide

Managing Fields

A set of fields is associated with a class in Ascent Xtrata Pro. Their purpose is to store
the data extracted for the class. Subclasses always inherit the fields of their parent
class. Additional fields can be added and field settings can be changed for the
subclasses, but no fields inherited from a parent class can be deleted.

Fields are accessible in the Extraction Design panel in Project Builder. To see this
panel, click the “Show extraction design” button in the Mode toolbar between the
Project panel and the design panels.

All the fields defined for the currently selected class are listed in the field list. For
each field, this list shows the name of the field, the class for which it was defined, as
well as the locator it uses to find the data.

There are two types of fields: simple fields and table fields. To define a table field,
you create a simple field first and change the field type to “Table field.” Then you
select the applicable table model using the table field properties dialog box..

Note

You can only assign a Table Locator to a table field. If you assign any other

kind of locator the table field, the field type is automatically reset to a simple field.

All changes to fields, such as renaming, deleting, or inserting them, require
resynchronization of the project in Ascent Capture. For more information, see Set up
a Batch Class in Ascent Capture – Synchronize Invoice Fields.
