Format
You can define one or more formats, or choose one from a list of predefined
formats. To select a predefined format, click the right arrow button that is located
next to the format field. The predefined formats are grouped into the following
categories:
• Numbers
• Select from a variety of commonly found numeric formats.
• Characters
Select from a variety of commonly found alphanumeric formats.
You can select a predefined format and modify it before you add it to the list of
defined formats. For further information, see Project Builder – Format Locators -
Regular Expressions .
Each format has the following properties:
Description:
You can provide a description for each format. For example, you might comment
on the usage or structure of the defined format.
Ignore characters:
You can provide a set of characters that are to be ignored for this format. If these
characters are found in the result, they will be treated as if they did not exist for
validation purposes.
Error Description:
You can provide an error description that is displayed when this validation
method is applied and there is an error. For example, you may output an error
message “The Customer ID must be a number that consists of 7 digits.”
Ignore case:
Select this property to ignore case when validating the results.
Whole word:
Select this property to match against the entire word. If this is not selected partial
words will count as matches. In this case, expressions that match only parts of
words will have a 100% confidence.
