for the purposes of testing. However, if an Ascent Xtrata Pro production
license is present a password protected knowledge base can only be used
within the Server module if the user has an Activation Code for it.’

Important

Remember that protection can only be configured during the

creation of the knowledge base and can not be added to an existing
knowledge base. If you decide that you want to license protect an existing
knowledge base, then you have to create the knowledge base for the
trainings folder again using the option ‘Create with password protection.’

Provide a name for the knowledge base. The description and owner
information is optional.

To create a knowledge base activation code

Open a project with a password protected knowledge base.

Select Project | Project Settings. The Project Settings dialog box will display.

Select the Knowledge Base tab.

Select a password protected knowledge base.

Click Generate in the Activation Code panel to display the Create
Knowledge Base Activation Code dialog box

Enter the password of the knowledge base and the serial number of the
customer’s hardware key.

Click Create Activation Code. The Knowledge Base License panel will show
the name of the Knowledge Base, the serial number of the hardware key, and
the new activation code (checksum).

This activation code is then provided to the customer.

To insert an activation code

1

Open a project with a knowledge base that has an activation code.

Select Project | Project Settings. The Project Settings dialog box will display.

Select the Knowledge Base tab.

Activate the knowledge base for which the activation code should be
inserted by selecting its checkbox.

Click Insert to open the Insert Knowledge Base Activation Code dialog box.
