Select a sample document from the test folder or the training set and
display it in the Zone Viewer.
Note
When the Advanced Zone Locator property dialog is opened, the
standard viewer becomes the
Zone Viewer
. The Zone Viewer provides
additional functionality to add, manipulate, and test recognition zones.

In the Advanced Zone Locator Properties dialog box General tab, click
Insert Sample to insert the displayed image as reference image.

Click Add Text Zone on the Zone Viewer’s toolbar to draw a zone on the
reference document. The Zone Settings dialog box is displayed
automatically when you release the mouse button.
Note
You can add also a zone with default values. To do this select the
Zones tab and click Add to insert a new zone.

Adjust and test the zone until you are satisfied with the results.
Note
The Zone Viewer allows you to select reference sample, or test
images. A reference image is used as the basis for all defined coordinates
and is used to register the zone locations. The sample images are a
collection of images that are used for background removal. The test
images are a collection of images currently loaded into the test folder.
Most zone settings can only be changed on the reference image. If options
in the Zone Settings dialog are disabled, select the reference image in
order to make changes. Afterwards you can select the test images to test
your changes.

In the Advanced Zone Locator dialog box Subfields tab, review the subfield
mapping for the zones. Normally, zones that are inserted on the reference
document are automatically mapped and shown in the Subfield Definition
list, but you may want to make changes.
Note
If you delete or rename zones from the reference document, those
changes are not automatically reflected in the subfield list.

If necessary, clean up the subfield list. The easiest way to do this is delete
everything and then click generate to remap subfields to those zones.
