Relation Evaluator

The following sections describe the concept of the Relation Evaluator and show how
to add and set up the evaluator. An evaluator is a locator engine that works on the
results of other locators. In the case of the Relation Evaluator, the engine works on
the results of any prior locator.

Concept

The Relation Evaluator attempts to suggest the most correct result based on the
physical relationships of items found within the document. For example the phrase
“zip code” in close proximity to a number suggests that the number is a zip code.

This locator picks the best results of a certain input locator with respect to

the

best

result of another input locator. For example, one locator finds dates and uses the
phrase “invoice date” to identify the right one. A second locator finds any kind of
number. You can use the Relation Evaluator to identify the number closest to and
below the identified invoice date.

Properties

The following sections describe how to set up the Relation Evaluator.

To add and configure a Relation Evaluator

For an existing project, select any class in the class hierarchy.

Select Show Extraction Design from the Mode toolbar.

Create a new locator and select Relation Evaluator from the drop-down list of
locator methods.

Double-click the locator or select Properties from the toolbar to open the
Relation Evaluator properties dialog box.
