Ascent Xtrata Pro User's Guide

Use this option to set a field’s status to ‘valid’, though the status returned from
extraction is ‘invalid’. Then you do not need to validate this field or table column in
validation.

Important

For fields that are not shown on a validation form, or those that are

invisible or read only, you should enable this option. Then Ascent Xtrata Pro Server
sets the field’s status to ‘valid’ and if all other fields of the document are ‘valid’ the
document does not need to be displayed in Validation.

If you do not set this option, then a document may contain ‘invalid’ fields after
extraction and it is rooted to Ascent Xtrata Pro Validation. By default the field status
of all invisible and read only fields and those that are not available on the form are
set to ‘valid’ automatically, but this happens not until the document is shown in
Validation.

Default Areas

You can define default areas for fields. A default area is a zone on the document that
is shown in the viewer when the field has no extraction result. When you click on the
field on the validation form then the system jumps to this area in the viewer.

To set up a default area select a document from the Test Folder and load the
validation form. In Validation Design you select the field for which the default area
should be defined and you draw a zone on the document in the viewer. This zone is
automatically named as ‘Default Area’. Select

Field Properties

and define the page on

which the area should be located from the Default Area Page list.

To change the size or position of the zone, select the zone in the viewer and resize it.
Select <none> to deactivate the area. By default, no default area is defined and even
if the zone has been drawn, the page needs to be set or the default area is not
activated.

Validation Test

To test the validation rules, error messages, and the validation form process a
document from the Test Folder and click Process | Validate Document from the main
toolbar in Project Builder. The extraction results for the selected document are
validated, and the results displayed in the validation form for the class to which the
document was classified.
