The following sections describe how to set up the Address Evaluator.

X

To add and configure an Address Evaluator

1

Select Show Extraction Design from the Mode toolbar.

2

Add a new Address Evaluator.

Note

Make sure that you have already defined a locator, whose results will

be used by the Address Evaluator. This locator must appear above the
evaluator in the list of available locators, since it needs to be executed first.

3

Double-click on the new Address Evaluator in the list to open the Properties
dialog box.

a

On the “General” tab, specify a database file. As soon as the database file
is selected, a preview appears in the bottom pane. You can use this
preview to make sure that the database file is configured properly. Each
field must be separated by a delimiter, which by default is a semi-colon
(;). You can change delimiters if needed. Each record is a single line in the
database file, however the first line may contain column headers. In this
case, check “First line contains caption” to recognize the column headings.

b

Select the “Mapping” tab to map the database fields to the locator results.
The dialog box displays a list with three columns. The first column
contains the name of the field as based on the header row in the database
(default names are used if there is no header). The second column
contains a list of available locators. The third column contains the type of
Field. By default, all fields are mapped to “Other text”. There are five field
types: Zip, City, Street, Other text, and Numeric. It is important to map at
least the zip and city fields, otherwise the Address Evaluator will not
work. It is not possible to map more than one zip, city or street to the
database fields.

4

Click Test to test your settings. If this is the first test, you will be asked to
confirm importing the entire database. Every time you click “Close” or
“Test” the database will be checked for changes, and you will be asked to
import it if necessary. The Test Results tab displays only the best result.
