Only results from that locator with a confidence higher than the threshold will be
used. Furthermore, specify whether the grouping values are order or delivery note
numbers. The numbers will then be copied into the appropriate column of the table.

Zone Locator

The following sections describe the concept of the Zone Locator and show how to
add and set up the locator.

Note

It is recommended that you use the Advanced Zone Locator instead of the Zone

Locator, because the Advanced Zone Locator provides a number of additional
options. You can easily migrate a project that uses the “old” Zone Locator to a project
with the Advanced Zone Locator. To do this, open the project and click Tools |
Upgrade Zone Locators from the main menu.

Concept

The Zone Locator extracts a document’s content from one or several predefined
zones. The Zone Locator can be set up to perform background removal, so it can also
be used to extract fields that are located in a shaded area of the document.

Normally (without background removal), the OCR engine will not produce any
useful results in shaded areas, as the following sample shows.

Figure 4-71. Extraction Result without Background Removal in a Shaded Area Returns
an Empty Result

For a Zone Locator with background removal, the following results can be obtained
for the “InvoiceNo” field. A zone is defined to read the invoice number and the OCR
profile is defined to read only numeric values for the zone. After the background
shading has been removed, the OCR engine can extract the correct value.

You must train the background removal feature with at least five sample documents
to perform background removal.
