Defining Cells

Cells can be defined by simply selecting areas in the line item. The cells can be
located anywhere within the line item, even below each other. Cells may also span
across more than one row. Each cell is assigned to a column in the table model. A cell
may be marked as optional, which means that it may be missing in a line item. The
cell type is determined automatically when the cell is drawn, but it can be changed
later. This means that if you select the quantity cell and there is a number in it, the
cell type is set to numeric.

However, if during runtime, documents are processed that have quantities of 1 in
that column and the OCR misreads them as “|”, then the cell type will not match and
the line item might be discarded. In such cases, you should select “Not relevant” in
the cell type drop-down list. This setting will allow any type of character in the cell.
