7.8.5 Example for transmitting IP datagrams through X.25 PVC

Networking requirements

Without adding static routes, PC A and PC B can exchange routing information between

Ethernet A and Ethernet B through the RIP routing protocol.

Configuration roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

1.

Configure the link protocol to X.25.

2.

Configure X121 addresses.

3.

Configure PVC routes.

Data preparation

To complete the configuration, you need the following data:

In Figure 7-14, the PVC section allowed by the packet network is [1, 8]. The PVC

numbers assigned to Router A and Router B are 3 and 4 respectively.

The IP network addresses of Ethernets A and B are 202.38.165.0/24 and 196.25.231.0/24

respectively.

The X.121 addresses assigned to the interfaces on Router A and Router B are 21 and 22

respectively.

Configuration procedure

Step 1 Configure Router A.
