8.2.4 Configuring frame relay sub-interfaces capability

Create an frame relay sub-interface

Do as follows on the routers:

Step 1 Run:

system-view

The system view appears.

Step 2 Run:

interface interface-type interface-number

The FR interface view appears.

Step 3 Run:

link-protocol fr [ ietf | nonstandard ]

The command configures the link layer protocol of the interface as FR.

The threes types of FR interfaces, DTE, DCE and NNI support sub-interfaces.

You can create an FR sub-interface only after the FR main interface is configured.

Step 4 Run:

quit

Return to the system view.

Step 5 Run:

interface interface-type interface-number.subnumber [ p2mp | p2p ]

The command creates an FR sub-interface.

OQ NOTE

• You can specify the type of a sub-interface only when creating a sub-interface. Once created, you

cannot change the sub-interface.

• An FR sub-interface must be of the same type as that of its main interface.

• When sub-interfaces exist, if you execute the shutdown command and the undo shutdown

command on the main interface in succession, you use the two commands at an interval of at least

15 seconds.
