8 Frame relay configuration

Configuration -WAN Access
Run the
display fr dlci-switch
command. The configuration succeeds when information
about the FR switching appears. For example:
<Nortel> display fr dlci-switch
Frame relay switch statistics for board 6
Status Interface(Dlci)
Active Serial6/0/0(500)
Interface(Dlci)
Serial6/0/1(600)
Run the
display fr switch-table
command. The configuration succeeds when statistics about
the FR switching PVC appears. For example:

8.7 Configuring PVC standby groups of frame relay
switching
8.7.1 Establishing the configuration task
Applicable environment
You can configure the switching PVC backup function to guarantee better services for FR
switching.
There are two methods you use for configuring the PVC backup function:
•
Backing up PVC through FR switching PVC
You do not need to specially create the PVC standby groups of FR switching. To back up
the switching PVC, if the specified standby group does not exist, the system
automatically creates a standby group with the number and adds the switching PVC into
the group.
The system supports up to 256 standby groups, numbered from 1 to 256.
• Backing up outbound PVC through the tTunnel interface through FR over IP.
Run the FR PVC standby group command to back up the related outbound interface to
the Tunnel interface. You can then back up the FR switching link through FR over IP in
all the cases except when the two interfaces are Tunnel interfaces.
The PVC standby groups of FR switching can implement switching in two modes: the
automatic switching mode and the manual switching mode.
For the switchover from the standby to master, only the manual mode is supported.
ED NOTE
A standby PVC corresponds only to a master PVC.Tthe newly configured master PVC overwrites the
previous PVC in the same standby PVC.

Before configuring PVC standby groups of FR switching, complete the following tasks:
