11 High-speed ATM configuration

To configure C2, J1 or S1, run:

flag { c2 c2-value | j1 [ sonet ] jl-value | s1 sl-value }

The command configures the overhead byte i.

c2

c2-value: The signal label byte C2 belongs to the Higher-Order Path Overhead byte. You

use it to indicate the multiplexing structure of the Virtual Container (VC) and the feature of

the information payload.

j0

jO-value specifies the regenerator trace byte.

j1

jl-value specifies the path trace byte. You use it to detect whether the two interfaces are in

the continuous connection status.

s1

sl-value specifies the synchronous status byte. The di^erent values represent the quality

levels of the di^erent clock of the ITU-T. Based on the values, the device can judge the
quality of the received clock signals to determine whether switching to the clock source of the

better quality is required. The smaller the value of the S1 is, the higher the clock quality level

is.

The default value of C2 is 19 (13 in hex), and the default value of S1 is 0.

For the default values of J0 and J1:

In the SONET mode, the default values of J0 and J1 are both 1.

In the SDH mode, the default values of J0 and J1 are both “Nortel”.

By default, ATM interface works in the SDH mode.

For the

c2

byte and the

j1

byte, configure both the ends to be consistent.

Step 2

Run:

interface atm interface-number

The ATM interface view appears.

Step 3

Run:

Scramble
