8 Frame relay configuration
Nortel Secure Router 8000 Series
Configuration -WAN Access
•
You must specify the FR switching route to transmit egress and the number for a VC and
to set a packet switching route;
•
You must configure the FR switching PVC to create packets switching route between
any two interfaces of the router. It is often used to backup the route. For a detailed
configuration, see Configuring the switching PVC backup function.
CQ NOTE
For an interface used for FR switching, you must configure the interface type as NNI or DCE by using
the
fr interface-type
command. Otherwise, the FR switching takes no effect.
Preconfiguration tasks
Before configuring FR switching, complete the following tasks:
•
Configuring physical parameters for FR interfaces
Configuring basic frame relay DTE capability or Configuring basic frame relay DCE
capability
Data preparation
To configure FR switching, you need the following data.
