11.3.2 Configuring IPoA mapping on a PVC

Do as follows on the routers:

Step 1

Run:

system-view

The system view appears.

Step 2

Run:

interface atm interface-number[.subinterface ]

The ATM interface or the sub-interface view appears.

Step 3

Run:

pvc { pvc-name vpi/vci | vpi/vci }

The command creates a PVC and the PVC view appears.

Step 4

Run:

encapsulation aal5-encap

The command configures the encapsulation type of the PVC as AAL5.

The AAL5 encapsulation type for PVC can be

aal5snap

,

aal5mux

.

By default, it is

aal5snap

.

InARP is not supported when you adopt

aal5mux

. To change the encapsulation type for PVC

to

aal5mux

, first delete the InARP.

m

NOTE

When the encapsulation command is run on the high-speed ATM interface card, the four types of
AAL5 encapsulation display in the prompt information: aal5snap, aal5mux, aal5muxunstandard, and

aal5nlpid. The PVC of the low-speed ATM interface card supports these four types of AAL5
encapsulation. The PVC of the high-speed ATM interface, however, supports only two types of
encapsulation: aal5snap and aal5mux.

When you configure the AAL5 encapsulation type of the PVC of the high-speed ATM interface as

aal5muxunstandard and aal5nlpid, the system prompts the alarm information for the error
configuration.

Step 5

Run:

map ip { ip-address [ mask ]

| inarp [ minutes ] } [ broadcast ]

The command configures the IPoA mapping on the PVC.

When configuring the ip-address, if the specified is the network segment address or the

multicast address, you must choose the key word

broadcast

.
