debug portmon all

Use the debug portmon all command allows the user to monitor all traffic of a specific type. All
traffic can be displayed, or a specific traffic type can be defined. Note: Immediately after this
command is issued, any traffic that falls into the filter parameter will be displayed. To turn the
monitoring off, you must issue a no debug portmon command. See no debug portmon command
on page 3-16.

Syntax:

# debug portmon all [all|arp

address|bootp address|control

|data|dns

address|icmp address|ip address|link|mgcp address|

rip

address|sip address|stp|tcp {address|address:port|port}|

udp {

address|address:port|port}]

Example:

adit 3500# debug portmon all rip 192.168.1.20

Filters all traffic of the following type.
all

Allows all traffic.

arp

Displays all Address Resolution Protocol traffic.
address = IP address of the interface.

bootp

Displays BootP related traffic.

address = IP address of the interface.

control

Displays control related traffic.

data

Displays data related traffic.

dns

Displays Domain Naming Service related traffic.
address = IP address of the interface.

icmp

Displays Internet Control Message Protocol related traffic.

address = IP address of the interface.

ip

Displays Internet Protocol related traffic Note: Requires an IP address.

address = IP address of the interface.

link

Displays link related traffic.

mgcp

Displays Media Gateway Control Protocol related traffic.
address = IP address of the interface.

rip

Displays Routing Information Protocol related traffic.

address = IP address of the interface.

sip

Displays Session Initiation Protocol related traffic.

address = IP address of the interface.

stp

Displays Spanning Tree Protocol related traffic.

tcp

Displays Transmission Control Protocol related traffic.
address = IP address of the interface.
