A.4 Derating Data

A.4 Derating Data

The converter can be operated at above the rated temperature, altitude, and default carrier frequency by derating the
converter capacity.

Temperature Derating

To ensure the maximum performance life, the converter output current must be derated as shown in

Figure A.1

when the

converter is installed in areas with high ambient temperature or if converters are mounted side-by-side in a cabinet. In
order to ensure reliable converter overload protection, set parameters L8-35 according to the installation conditions.

Parameter Settings

If the ambient temperature is higher than the rating or if converters are installed side by side in the control panel, you must
set the L8-12 and L8-35 parameters according to the installation conditions. Derate the output current according to

Figure A.1

Setting 0: IP00/IP20/Open Type Enclosure

Converter operation between -10

°C and +50°C allows 100% continuous current without derating.

Setting 1: Side-by-Side Mounting

Converter operation between -10

°C and +30°C allows 100% continuous current without derating. Operation between

+30

°C and +50°C requires output current derating.

Setting 3: External Heatsink Installation

Converter operation between -10

°C and +40°C allows 100% continuous current without derating. Operation between

+40

°C and +50°C requires output current derating.

Altitude Derating

Standard ratings are valid for installation altitudes up to 1000 m. For installations from 1000 m to 3000 m, the converter
rated voltage and the rated output current must be derated for 1% per 100 m.
