Enabling or Disabling the Event Logs

To enable or disable the event logs, perform the following procedure:

1. From the Main Menu, type 5 to select System Administration.

The System Administration menu is shown in Figure 4 on page 51.

2. From the System Administration menu, type 8 to select Event Log.

The Event Log menu is shown in Figure 61.

3. To enable or disable event logging, type 1 to toggle Event Logging

between the two options:

Enabled
The switch immediately begins to add events to the logs. This is
the default.

Disabled
Event logging is halted if this option was previously set to
Enabled, or no event log is created.

Note

When the event log feature is disabled and the switch is rebooted,
initialization events are still logged even though the Event Log
feature is disabled. The Event Logging option determines whether
further events are logged.
