RESTART SWITCH

Syntax

restart switch config=none|

filename

.cfg

Parameters

config

Specifies the configuration file. The file must already exist

on the switch. The NONE option returns the switch to its
default values.

Description

You use this command to perform these three functions:

ˆ

Reset the switch. To reset the switch, enter RESTART SWITCH at the
command prompt. This is equivalent to “RESTART REBOOT” on
page 71.

ˆ

Return the switch to its default settings. To restore the default settings
on the switch, enter the command with CONFIG=NONE.

ˆ

Configure the switch with a different configuration file stored in the file
system of the switch. You might wat to do this to test the switch’s
performance with a different configuration.

If you specify a configuration file, the switch automatically resets itself and
configures its parameters according to the settings in the configuration file
specified in the command. However, the assignment of the active boot
configuration file does not change. Resetting or power cycling the switch
again causes the unit to revert to its previous configuration. To change the
assignment of the active boot configuration file, refer to “SET CONFIG” on
page 245.

When restoring the default settings on a switch, note the following:

ˆ

Returning all the parameter settings to their default values deletes all
the routing interfaces as well as all the port-based and tagged VLANs
on the switch.

ˆ

This option does not delete files from the AT-S63 file system. To delete
files, refer to “DELETE FILE” on page 239.

ˆ

This option does not delete encryption keys stored in the key
database. To delete encryption keys, refer to “DESTROY ENCO KEY”
on page 770.

ˆ

Returning a switch to its default values does not change the settings in
the active boot configuration file. To return the active configuration file
to the default settings, you must use the SAVE CONFIGURATION
command after the switch reboots and you have reestablished your
