Description of RGU Modes of
Operation
Your RGU can operate in following three modes:
This section shows how these three operations work, using the
RGU bridge, shown in Figure 1.2.

Operation
Description
Motoring
The RGU regulates the current and voltage.
The RGU controls the IGBT switching.
Current flows from the AC line to the DC bus.
Regenerating
The RGU regulates the current and voltage.
The RGU controls the IGBT switching.
Current flows from the DC bus to the AC line.
Diode Bridge
The RGU does not regulate the current or voltage.
The power structure operates as a diode bridge.
Current flows from the AC line to the DC bus.
