Operating System Installation Procedures

Clean System Windows
2000 Server Installation

These instructions cover installation of Windows 2000 Server from either
CD-ROM or floppy disks.

Several additional installation methods are available. Consult the Microsoft
Documentation set included with the Operating System for the following
installation methods:

• Unattended Installation
• Remote Installation Services
• Over the Network Installation
• SysPrep
• Systems Management Server

IMPORTANT

These installation scenarios use a “clean” PC installation
method in which all data on the system will be erased.
This is an irrecoverable action. All data must be first
backed up or transferred to another system before
proceeding.

• ProcessLogix R500.1 Servers require the Windows

2000 Server operating system.

• ProcessLogix R500.1 Client Stations may use

Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP
Professional or Windows 2000 Server.

(1)

• Windows NT 4.0 Server and Workstation are not

supported.

(1)

Windows 2000 Server is not recommended as a Client for ProcessLogix R500.1 due to the default standard
hardware and operating system requirements.

IMPORTANT

If you purchased a new ProcessLogix R500.1 Server from
Rockwell Automation, the operating system and
ProcessLogix software have already been installed. Do not
reinstall the software
. Refer to the ProcessLogix R500.1
Server Installation Instructions, publication 1757-IN950
shipped with your hardware.
