Updating Windows
Installer
1. Logon to the system as Administrator.
2. Insert the ProcessLogix R500 Knowledge Builder CD in the CD-ROM
drive.
3. Click Start
⇒
Run.
4. Enter this path or Browse to:
>D:( or your CD-ROM drive letter )\Knowledge_Builder\instmsiw.exe<
5. Click OK.
6. If a Specified service already exists error appears, Windows Installer is
already up to date. Otherwise, click OK at the Windows Installer Setup
completed successfully dialog box.
7. Click No (Do not restart the system at this time.).
8. Wait for installation operations to complete.
9. Close all applications.
10. Restart the system.
IMPORTANT
If using Windows XP Professional, do not perform this
update as it is not necessary.
Windows XP Professional has the most recent update for
the Windows Installer.
TIP
If this is the first time start since the Windows 2000
operating system install, it will be necessary to remove the
default startup screens. Refer to Removing the Default
Startup Screens on page P-4.
