ProcessLogix Server Upgrade Procedures

ProcessLogix Server
Upgrade Scenarios

Upgrade R320.0 Server to R500.1

ProcessLogix R320.0 Server is certified to run only on Windows NT 4.0. Due
to significant changes in the ProcessLogix platform, operating system, and
performance requirements, upgrading from a ProcessLogix R320.0 Server to a
ProcessLogix R500.1 Server requires that you purchase a new PC and
complete a clean R500.1 Server installation on Windows 2000 Server.

The procedures in this section assume that:

• the old ProcessLogix R320.0 Server(s) and new ProcessLogix R500.1

Server(s) are different PC hardware.

• the new R500.1 Server(s) is fully up and configured at this stage. It

should be configured on the same network as your R320.0 system. If
you need to install ProcessLogix R500.1 on your Server(s), refer
to Installing ProcessLogix Software on a Clean PC on page 3-1
.

• the Servers are on the network and accessible to each other. This

requires that they each have a different name and unique TCP/IP
address for each network card.

Before continuing, it is recommended that you verify your R320.0 and R500.1
Servers are properly connected using a utility like ping.
