Confirmation of IPv4 Unicast Routing Information

5.3.1

Confirming the route to destination address

Confirm using a show ip route command that the route to a destination address
exists when IPv4 unicast routing information is set in the router. If no router exists,
refer to Subsection 5.3.2, “Confirming the gateway information of RIP”, to Subsection
5.3.4,
“Confirming the peering information of BGP4”.

5.3.2

Confirming the gateway information of RIP

Confirm the following using a show ip rip gateway command when a RIP function is
set using the IPv4 unicast routing information of the router.

Make sure that the neighbor router reporting the relevant route is displayed in
the Gateway Address. If the neighbor router is not specified, the GR2000 has not
received the RIP packet from the neighbor router. Troubleshoot the neighbor
router or the interface to the neighbor router.

Make sure that age is displayed within 30 seconds. If age is defined over 30
seconds, the RIP packet will not arrive from the neighbor router periodically.
Troubleshoot the neighbor router or the interface to the neighbor router.

See if Format--AuthFail is displayed in Flags. If it is displayed, the GR2000 has
received an invalid RIP packet from the neighbor router. If this is the case,
troubleshoot the neighbor router.

See if Reject is displayed in Flags. If it is displayed, the RIP packet from the
relevant router is rejected. Specify the

ripin

option for the relevant interface by

executing the

rip

command (interface specified).

See if ImportRestrict is displayed in Flags. If it is displayed, the import filter
might have filtered the packets on the relevant route. Check the import filter
setting in the configuration information.

In other cases, neighbor routers might not have reported the relevant route.
Troubleshoot neighbor routers.
