Communication failure in Multiprotocol

7.13.1

The NetWare server cannot be logged in to in IPX communication

Confirm the following:

1. Confirm of unit/circuit status

By referring to Section 4.5, “Setting the configuration definition information” and
Section 5.1, “Confirmation of network interface state”, check to see if the unit
and circuit are faulty. If any are faulty, take remedial action in accordance with
Section 7.1, “Failure in router or failure in part of router” and Section 7.4,
“Communication failure in network interface
”.

2. Confirmation of operational configuration definition information

See Subsection 5.10.1, “Confirming the IPX communication function”.

3. Confirmation of interface information

See Subsection 5.10.1, “Confirming the IPX communication function”.

4. Confirmation of routing information

See Subsection 5.10.1, “Confirming the IPX communication function”.

5. Confirmation of server information

See Subsection 5.10.1, “Confirming the IPX communication function”.

Frame is not repeated in the bridge communication

7.13.2.1

Inspection of Bridge Interface Definition and Status

Execute the show bridge configuration command (CLI type 1) and ensure that bridge
interface is correctly defined for each interface. Display the status of the bridge
interface using the show bridge interface command and the show spanning-tree
summary command, and ensure that the interface is not down or is operating in a
defined interface type.

7.13.2.2

Inspection of Filtering Database

When static entries in a filtering database are incorrectly set, an expected frame
might not be relayed or might be relayed to an incorrect LAN. Execute the show
bridge configuration command (CLI type 1) and ensure that the static entries are
correctly set. Also inspect the current filtering database contents by using the show
bridge fdb command. Note that MAC address settings in configuration information
must use canonical expressions.
