Communication failure in network interface

7.4.1

Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet lines cannot be connected

Check out the status of NIF and Line as described below when the cause of a
communication failure is judged to lie in Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet lines.

(a) Check out the NIF Status:

Check out the NIF status using a show interfaces command. The remedy for NIF
status is shown in the table below.

(b) Check out the line status:

Check out the Line status using a show interfaces command. The remedy for Line
status is shown in the table below.

Obtain the log message for the subject line using the

show logging

command (*1), and take necessary

troubleshooting actions in accordance with the obtained
log message (Chapter 5, “Log Messages,” in GR2000
Operations Log and MIB Reference
).

initialized

This NIF is restarting after error
detection.

Same as above.

7

locked

Operation of this NIF is suspended by
configuration information.

Ensure that NIF board to be used is installed, and set
this NIF to active by altering the configuration
information.
