7.8.3.2

Confirmation of statistical information

Confirm the statistical information (failure in packet reception and transmission) of
the relevant tunnel line using a show interfaces command. Confirm the set
information according to Subsection 7.8.1 when packet reception and transmission
fail.

7.8.4

Troubleshooting NAT-PT Communication Failures

Three factors that may produce communication troubles in the NAT-PT are as
follows:

1. Error in setting the configuration defining information related to NAT-PT.

2. Changes in the network configuration.

3. Impediments in the relaying network.

Regarding 2 above, investigate the difference in the network configuration before and
after the change, and check for any cause that may hinder communication.

This section assumes that the setting of IPv6/IPv4 network card and cable
connections has been confirmed and explains the impediment positions and the
procedure for dividing the causes thereof in cases as shown in 1 and 3 above that:
"no communication is possible even though the configuration defining information
and the network configuration are correct," "Communication is no longer possible
because the configuration defining information was changed" or "conversion of the IP
address and the port number has become impossible."

See Figure 7-20, DHCP Client Communication Failures Troubleshooting Chart, for a
flowchart for troubleshooting these failures.

Item
No.

Line Status

Cause

Remedy

1

active up

The relevant tunnel line is
operating normally.

None.

2

active down

A line failure has occurred in the
relevant tunnel line.

This occurs only when the relevant tunnel line is a 6to4
tunnel. Take measures according to the section on
remedies, referring to the relevant message in Chapter
5 of GR2000 Operations Log and MIB Reference from
the log message of the line corresponding to the
relevant 6to4 tunnel line that is displayed using a show
logging command.

3

locked

Operation of the relevant tunnel
is stopped by configuration
definition information.

Set configuration definition information and put the
relevant tunnel into the operational state.
