7.5.4.1

Inspection of Log Message and Interface

Impediment (or breakage) of the hardware (RP/NIF/Line) or impediment in the
adjacent device may be seen as the cause of the communication obstruction. Inspect
the log messages shown in the router and the interface up/down status by the

show

ip interface

command. For the procedure, see Subsection 7.5.1, “Communication

cannot be done or communication is disconnected”.

7.5.4.2

Confirmation of Failure in NAT/NAPT Conversion

There is a possibility that the conversion of the IP address and the port has failed at
NAT. Check for the occurrence of NAT/NAPT conversion failure of Misses by using
the

show ip nat statistics

command. If the counter shows a number other than zero

(NAT/NAPT conversion failed), investigate the cause referring to the “Confirmation of
NAT/NAPT conversion failure information (factor analysis).”

<Cannot communicate>

Confirmation of impediment occurrence

by using the show logging command.

Inspect interface up/down status

with show ip interface command.

No log message is
available.

Log message is
available.

Follow the procedure for each log message
according to the Operation log and MIB, and
follow the procedure for troubleshooting on
IP communication failures according to
7.5.1.

Confirm whether conversion
at NAT, NAPT has failed.

Follow the procedure in
Section 7.4, “Communication
failure in network interface.

Analyze the factors (confirm
whether binding entry is
available at NAT).

Confirm whether the interface used
in NAT for the configuration defining
information is correct.

Confirmation of the relaying
network

Confirm the rules at NAT for the
configuration defining information.
