8.7 Line Test
8.7.1 Testing on Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet Line
Testing on an Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet line is performed as a loop connector
loopback test. Prior to testing, the cable of the subject line number should be
disconnected and replaced with an applicable loop connector.
For example, to test line No. 0 of NIF No. 2, enter the command lines as shown below:
The test can be executed on all types of WAN lines by entering
test interfaces (LAN)
and test no interfaces (LAN) commands from the device management terminal.
> test interfaces nif 2 line 0 connector [CR]
(Wait about 1 minute.)
> no test interfaces nif 2 line 0 [CR]
The result will appear as Figure 8-39, an example of confirmation by executing the
test interface and no test interface commands in the Ethernet line, where you need to
assure that
“Send-NG” and “Receive-NG” are both 0. If “Send-NG” and “Receive-NG” are both
0, the result is normal.

Note 1:
If “Send-NG” and “Receive-NG” are not 0, there is an apparent problem. Analyze the
result in accordance with a result of the no test interfaces (LAN) information in GR2000
Operations Commands, Vol. 1. If you do not have a loop connector, conduct an
internal loopback test.
Note 2:
Conducting a loopback test on a Gigabit Ethernet NIF board requires a loop connector
even when the test is an internal loopback test. Conducting a loop connector loopback
test on NE100-4FS4, NE1G-1LHA, NE1G-1LHA8 or NE1G-1LHABA requires a optical
attenuator.
