7.11.8.2

When the Targeted LDP session is not established

Check the information of the route to the remote peer of the targeted LDP session
that was not first established.

(a) When the interface is not in UP state:

Eliminate the interface fault in accordance with Section 7.6, “Communication failure
in IPv4 unicast routing”
.

(b) When the interface is in UP state:

Specify the detailed option with the show mpls ldp command to investigate the
reason the basic LDP session cannot be established. The table below shows fault
analysis methods to be followed when there is route information but no targeted LDP
session is established.

3

Check the displayed message of last
down reason of the show mpls ldp
detailed command.

The display of configuration changed or unsupported hardware
indicates that the configuration definition has been altered, or
hardware not supported by MPLS is in use. Check the configuration
definition and the hardware (if the NIF is not supported by MPLS,
this message will be issued.)

The display of hello expired indicates the hello message will no
longer be delivered from the remote LSR. Check the state of the
remote router and of the link.

The display Keepalive expired indicates the Keepalive message will
no longer be delivered from the remote LSR. Check the state of the
remote router and of the link.

If the display shows illegal message received, the basic LDP
session has forcibly been released due to an illegal message
received from the remote LSR.*

If the display shows notification message received, the basic LDP
session has forcibly been released due to a notification message
received from the remote LSR.*

If the display shows unknown, the basic LDP session has been
released for a reason other than the above.

Note *
If the basic LDP session is faulty for any of these reasons, the basic LDP session will normally be restored in
automatically. If the basic LDP session is not restored after a while, check the state of the remote router.
