Establish the Remote Link and Login from the Remote Operation Terminal

a. Dial-up the own router and establish the remote link:

Activate the dial-up networking software on the remote operation terminal
and dial-up the own router. If the dial-up attempt fails, troubleshoot the
cause in accordance with Section 7.2, “Problem in operation terminal” on
page 7-5.

b. Ensure the connection from the remote operation terminal:

When the remote link has been established, the preset IP addresses are
assigned to both ends of the link. You can confirm the link’s reachability with
a proper command, e.g.,

ping

. In addition, use the

show sessions

command to

ensure the login port (AUX) and the remote operation terminal’s IP address.
An example is shown below.

Login:
Login from the remote operation terminal to the own router and ensure that
the remote login is accepted and the remote operation under Web browser is
available.

Disconnect the Remote Link

In addition to the above, the remote link will be disconnected in any of the following
cases:

1. Disconnection request from the remote operation terminal.

2. The

killuser

command has been executed by any other login user to cause a forced

logout of the user (seen Note).

3. The

rmuser

command has been executed by any other login user to delete the

remote operation user (see Note).

4. The configuration information related to the AUX port has been changed or

deleted (see GR2000 Configuration Command, Vol. 2 -ip.)

5. A line failure has occurred.

This example provides step-by-step details for setting up and activating the dial-up
networking on the remote operation terminal. The sample images assume the use of
Dial-Up Networking program of Windows 95/98, which may vary with the software
version.
