5.5.9.2

Confirmation of communication

Execute ping and ping ipv6 commands from the router and connection destination
router to the local and remote addresses set using tunnel information and confirm
the arrival performance. If no arrival performance is obtained, take the measures
below.

When no connectivity is found from either router

The route information is considered to have a problem, see Subsection 7.8.1,
“Communication cannot be done or communication is disconnected”.

When no connectivity is found from one of the routers

Confirm with the network configuration as to whether an address-converting
router is used between the relaying routes. If an address-converting router is
used, it falls under the prohibition configuration. Therefore, change the network
configuration so that no address-converting router is installed between the
relaying routes for setting the tunnels, see the GR2000 Applications Guide.

5.5.9.3

Confirmation of arrival route

Confirm the arrival route of the connection address set in the tunnel interface by
executing the show netstat routing-table numeric command. If the destination of the
route to be relayed is of another tunnel interface of this router, it may be conceivable
that it has become a multiplex tunnel of a prohibited configuration. Change the
setting of the route control so that an interface other than the tunnel interface will be
the relay destination.

Confirming the NAT-PT function

5.5.10.1

Confirmation during operation

(a) Confirmation of statistical information

The statistical information on NAT-PT is displayed when a show ipv6 natpt
statistics command is executed. The number of translated packets increases
when the translation using NAT-PT succeeds. If the translation using NAT-PT
fails, the number of packets that were not translated or discarded increases or no
counter increases. In a failure in translation, the setting of NAT-PT or the packets
are judged to be defective. See Subsection 7.8.4, “Troubleshooting NAT-PT
Communication Failures”
, for how to locate the problem.
