1. On HyperTerminal of Microsoft Windows95 or Microsoft Windows 98, your

attempt of changing the transmission speed during connection does not affect
actual transmission speed even if it looks successful (status bar displays
modified value). Disconnect and reconnect the line from the toolbar, then
change the transmission speed.

Ctrl+C does not work on
HyperTerminal of Microsoft
Windows 3.1.

TeratermPro.

1. Negotiation with terminal software may be incorrect. See the third item in this

table. Issue a break signal by Alt+B to see if the login window appears. Login
window may not appear until multiple break signals are issued, depending on
the transmission speed setting on TeratermPro.

The item name and its
contents are displayed out
of position.

1. Information exceeding the number of characters that can be displayed in one

line may be displayed by changing the screen size. Change the size by
resetting the terminal software and increase the number of characters that
can be displayed in one line.

1. Ensure that cable is connected properly.
2. Ensure that the modem is turned on.
3. Ensure that the telephone number is correct.
4. Connect the modem to the PC and ensure its settings.
5. Connect another modem to the other PC and see if dial-up connection is successful.

Confirm with the procedure below.
1. If the transmission speed for the CONSOLE (RS232C) in the configuration

information has been set to 19200, 4800, 2400, or 1200 bps by router command;
Configuration Command (CLI type 1), set the transmission speed of terminal
software to 9600 bps or auto.

2. Negotiation with terminal software may be incorrect. If the transmission speed for the

CONSOLE (RS232C) in the configuration information has been set to auto, issue a
break signal from terminal software and ensure that login window appears. Login
window may not appear until multiple break signals are issued, depending on the
transmission speed. See the manual of terminal software for how to issue the break
signal.

3. If the modem is in compliance with V90, K56flex, x2, or later protocol, make sure that

you connect the modem by the protocol of V.34 or below.

You have issued lots
of break signals but
the display remains
incorrect.

If any user remains logged in from the console, the transmission of the own device
cannot be changed. Wait until automatic logout is performed, or log in again and use the
killuser command to delete the login user.

Once the link was
disconnected,
re-dialing trials are
not accepted.

There may be cases when re-dialing is not accepted for several seconds. See the
manual of terminal software.
