5.11 Confirmation of SNMP agent communication
5.11.1 Confirming the communication with an SNMP manager
Confirm the following when a network is managed using an SNMP protocol with the
SNMP agent function set to the router.
MIB must be able to be acquired from the SNMP manager in a network to the
router.
The SNMP trap must be transmitted from the router to the SNMP manager in a
network.
The confirmation procedure is described below. See Chapter 6, "MIB List Support" of
the Operations Log and MIB Reference for MIB that can be acquired from the router.
See Section 33.1, "MIB Traps Support" Operations Log and MIB Reference for the
trap that is transmitted from the router.
1. Execute a ping command to specify the IP address of an SNMP manager and
confirm that IP communication is possible from the router to the SNMP manager.
See Subsection 7.5.1, “Communication cannot be done or communication is
disconnected” when communication is not possible.
2. Confirm that MIB can be acquired from an SNMP manager to the router. See
Section 7.14, “Communication failure in SNMP” when MIB cannot be acquired.
