MC cannot be accessed

When failure occurs when accessing the MC, confirm according to Table 7-3 below.

simplex.

Ensure that operation mode is duplex using show router command. If the operation
mode is simplex, system will not switch. To modify the operation mode, ensure that two
RM boards are installed and execute the set mode duplex command.

Standby RM has
failed.

Ensure that standby RM’s status is standby by executing show router command.

Standby RM hot
swapping.

For case (b) above, when standby system status is closed, standby RM is hot swapping.
After standby RM board is installed, execute free standby command from active system.

Configuration
information of RMs
does not match.

For case (b) above, when standby system status is configuration discord, match
configuration information of both systems by using copy command; Configuration
Command (CLI type 1). Standby system automatically restarts after executing copy
command.

Software versions of
both RMs do not
match.

For case (b) above, when standby system status is software version discord, shut off
standby system by executing reload stop standby command from active system. When
standby system status LED is steady yellow, remove MC card from standby system,
insert it in empty MC slot in active system, and execute copy mc command from active
system. After copy mc process is completed, return MC card to standby system and
press standby RM’s reset switch to restart.

EMA SUPPRESS
switch is pressed.

See if EMA SUPPRESS SWITCH of active side RM-IO board or standby side RM-IO
board is pressed. As the method for confirmation from the remote in case of EMA
SUPPRESS SWITCH of the operation system, execute the Transfer of the impediment
avoiding information file to the remote operation terminal, show boot command (without
an option) after it has become the router administrator mode and confirm that no
indication is made for EMA SUPPRESS enable in the status column.
To ensure the same on standby side, enter the show logging standby command line
from the active side and see if the result shows “E3 RM 01300415 100X A function of
system swap is not permitted because EMA SUPPRESS SWITCH is enabled.” When
performing the same checkout near actual machine, ensure that EMA SUPPRESS LED
is not yellow on both sides. If you find EMA SUPPRESS SWITCH is pressed, release it.

Others

Check logs to see if failure message exists. If so, follow the procedure indicated for
each message in Chapter 5, in the GR2000 Operations Log and MIB Reference.
