Internal peer

A peer that belongs to the same AS and is formed between physically directly
connected BGP speakers.

L2-VPN (Layer2 - Vertual Private Network)

VPN provided by providers for layer 2 connections between customer sites

Load balance function

A function for assembling existing line and supplying high bandwidth using
multipath.

Logical line

Multiplexed primary line group

Loopback address

Address 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1 (O::1 OR ::1) is defined as a loopback address. The loopback
address is used as packet destination address when communicating with local
nodes. It is not possible to assign loopback addresses to interfaces.

MIB (Management Information Base)

An object that expresses data regarding the device. It is used with SNMP protocols.

MLD (Multicast Listener Discovery)

An IPv6 multicast group management protocol used between router hosts.

MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching)

A technology for building high-speed connection type networks that transfer packets
along a path known as LSP (Label Switched Path)

Management terminal

The console or remote terminal used in device operation and management is referred
to as management terminal.

Marker

A function for writing the DSCP value in the DS field of the IP header.

Minimum bandwidth guarantee

A function for executing minimum guarantees of send bandwidth. Only that portion
of bandwidth assigned to each queue is sent. However, if the line bandwidth is
empty, the empty bandwidth is also used for transmission.

Multicast

A function for transmitting the same data to destinations belonging to a selected
group within the network.

Multicast tunnel function

A function for connecting 2 multicast networks, encapsulating multicast packets and
sending and receiving data when 2 multicast routers are connected via a unicast
router.
