Fair guarantee

A transmission function when sending packets from outbound queues in sequence
with 1 packet per queue.

Fair minimum bandwidth guarantee

A function for executing fair minimum bandwidth guarantee of transmission
bandwidth. Only that portion of bandwidth assigned to each queue is sent.
However, if the line bandwidth is empty, the empty bandwidth is also used for
transmission.

Filtering

Function for relaying or discarding specific received IP packets.

Flooding

A function for comparing MAC addresses in a table known as filtering database
(FDB) in transparent bridges with destination MAC addresses of the sent frames and,
if there are no entries that coincide, sending frames to all interfaces other than the
interfaces that received the frames.

Frame relay network

A packet-exchange type communication method that realizes high-speed data
transmission with simplified protocols.

Full mesh configuration

A network configuration that has communication paths 1-to-1 with the
communication destination used in frame relays. This is applied when mutually
communicating between offices, etc. Though there is an increase in the number of
communication paths, it is possible to reduce communication delays since they are
direct paths.

G

Group management function

A function that learns of the existence of multicast group members on networks with
directly-connected routers by sending and receiving group membership data between
hosts and routers.

H

Hardware queue length

Transmission data length sent to line hardware by 1 transmission processing.

I

ICMPv6 (Internet Control Message Protocol version 6)

A transfer protocol used in IPv6 networks

ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol)

A transfer protocol used in IPv4 networks

IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol)

Multicast group control protocol between hosts and routers used in IPv4 networks
