User cannot log in from remote operation terminal

When a connection failure occurs with a remote operation terminal, take necessary
actions depending on the symptoms as shown in Table 7-6.

User has forgotten login password

7.2.3.1

Password of login user

During operation, follow the procedure below when the user has forgotten the
password for a login user and cannot log in to the router.

1. Notification to router administrator

Consult the router administrator first. However, default-restart and set a
password again when there is no login user who can become a router
administrator (because other login users do not exist) (see Section 2.2, “Starting
the router”
for details of the default restart).

2. Change of password

The router administrator who was notified of a change of password should
change the password and notify all login users of the result. (To change a
password, execute a password command. To only delete a password, execute a
clear password command.)

1. Confirm if the route for remote connection is established by using PC or WS ping

command.

2. If it takes time to display prompt after message of connection establishment, the

DNS server might not be corresponded. If DNS server might not be corresponded,
it takes 5 minutes approximately to display prompt. This is a standard and it
depends on the network condition.

Confirm with the procedure below.
1. See if the remote operation terminal has an acceptable IP or IPv6 address. Also,

check that the restrict on the IP or IPv6 address that has been set by router
command; Configuration Command (CLI type 1) has been specified (see
Subsection 4.2.4, “Setting the number of users who can simultaneously log in" on
page 4-4).

2. See if the maximum number of accounts have logged in. See Subsection 4.2.4,

“Setting the number of users who can simultaneously log in" on page 4-4.

3. See if you are using protocol prohibited by router command; Configuration

Command (CLI type 1). See SSubsection 4.2.5, “Limiting login from a remote
operation terminal" on page 4-4
.

Key input is not

Confirm with the procedure below.
1. Flow control by XON/XOFF might be interrupting data transmission/receipt. Reset

the interrupt with Ctrl+Q. If key input is still disabled, confirm the following.

2. Ensure that communication software is configured properly.
3. Ctrl+S might have suspended the screen. Press any key.

Users remain logged
in.

Wait until automatic logout is performed, or log in again and use the killuser command
to delete the logged-in user. If the system is in configuration editing mode, a file is
open. Log in the terminal again and close the file.
