Step 1.

Stop operation of the target RP board:

Stop operation of the RP to be removed. Enter the command below from the
device management terminal. As a result, the NIFs under the target RP, if in
operation, are also stopped.

close [-f] rp <RP No.> [CR]

Step 2.

Remove the target RP board:

After confirming that the STATUS LED of the target RP board is lit yellow,
remove the RP board. For details about the removal procedure, see the
GR2000 Installation Guide. If necessary, remove the NIF (see Subsection 8.4
for the removal method).

Step 3.

Install a new RP board:

Install a new RP into the corresponding slot. See the GR2000 Installation
Guide
for details.

Step 4.

Start operation of the new RP board:

Start operation of the new RP board by entering the command below from
the device management terminal.

free rp <RP No.> [CR] (RP No.: Target RP number)

(3) Hot-Swapping of NIF

Figure 8-17 shows the procedure for hot-swapping the NIF. Details of each step
follow the figure.

Remove the target NIF board.

Install a new NIF board.
