Ver. 07-02

When there is no IPv4 unicast routing information
Go to Section 7.6, “Communication failure in IPv4 unicast routing”.

7.11.7.2

Check label.

Check the output label to the remote site in accordance with Subsection 5.8.5,
“Confirming the MPLS label”.

When there is an output label:
Go to item Subsection 7.11.7.4, “Check LSP”.

When there is no output label:
Go to item Subsection 7.11.7.3, “Check state of basic LDP session” - Check of
state of basic LDP session.

7.11.7.3

Check state of basic LDP session

To establish MPLS communication, it is essential that the basic LDP session be in UP
state on the output interface of IPv4 unicast routing information. Check the state of
the basic LDP session in accordance with Subsection 5.8.2, “Confirming LDP Session
State”
.

When the state is other than UP:
Go to Subsection 7.11.8, “LDP session is not established”.

When the state is UP:
There is no label distributed from the adjacent LSR. Investigate the adjacent LSR.

7.11.7.4

Check LSP

Display the route inside the MPLS network by issuing the traceroute command. It is
likely that the router that last responded or the router next to it is faulty. Check the
corresponding router.

[Notes]

IP address of BGP peer

In IP-VPN communication, the IP address of the BGP peer must be the local
address of the remote exit edge router. If the IP address of the BGP peer is the
address of the interface of the remote exit router, an actual IP-VPN
communication cannot be held, even if there are BGP peering and label set up.

IP address of Targeted LDP peer

In the EoMPLS(L2-VPN) communication, the IP address of the targeted LDP peer
must be the local address of the remote exit edge router. If the IP address of the
targeted LDP peer is the address of the interface of the remote exit router, actual
L2-VPN communication cannot be maintained, even if VC is established.

Transmission to direct route

If, in the transmission of non-VPN IP packets, the IPv4 unicast routing
information to the destination IP address goes through the direct route of the
unit or that of the adjacent LSR, those packets will be transmitted as ordinary IP
packets, not as MPLS packets. For example, when executing the ping command
or traceroute command from this unit on only one unit of the core router serving
as the exit edge router, specifying the IP address of the interface with the exit
edge core router prevents packets transmitted by the unit from becoming MPLS
packets.
