11.5.1 Inlet States

CAUTION

Only trained users should modify methods. Changing
inlet states may result in incorrect analysis.

Inlet States control the HAPSITE and accessory valve settings for sampling,
analysis and clean-out of the HAPSITE. The Inlet States can be programmed for a
set time period. The Concfill component is generally programmed by volume. The
Inlet State, Other, is available for creating a custom set of valve settings.

Figure

shows the grid used to program the Inlet States in a GC/MS Method.

Figure 11-14 Method Editor Inlet Page: Inlet States

The basic steps when editing the Inlet States grid is to first select the desired Inlet
State (i.e., LinePurge) from the Inlet State column. With the exception of Concfill
or Loopfill, the desired time period for that event is entered in the Duration column.
For Concfill or Loopfill, the desired volume of sample is entered into the volume
column.

NOTE: A time can be entered in the Duration column for Concfill and Loopfill if a

time fill is desired. However, if the Duration column and the Volume
column both have entries, the HAPSITE will sample according to volume.

After the Duration is entered, the Editor will automatically calculate and enter the
Start time for the next Inlet State. Events can be deleted and added to the template.
Highlight any cell in the grid and press the Delete key to remove a row or press the
Insert key to add a row. If a newly inserted row is not desired and information has
not yet been entered, click the row above it to remove the row. Also, rows cannot
be inserted after the Standby event.
