33.1.1 Introduction to PPP
The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)[ 36 ] is a common data link protocol for point-
to-point links. PPP is able to carry different kinds of layer-3 protocols, and can
be used in several contexts. WeOS supports IP (IPv4) service over PPP for the
following link types

e.g., by connecting to units directly via a serial (null-modem) cable, or over
