Turning Engine Manually

To manually turn the engine with the flywheel, an access hole is provided on the left cab-forward side for a
barring tool that is available from Cummins.

DANGER

Stop engine and remove key from ignition before leaving operator's seat for any reason. A child or even a
pet could engage an idling machine.

1. Stop engine and remove ignition key.

2. Open the hood to the lowest position, refer to

3. Open left cab-forward side platform. Refer to

Opening Platforms (Standard Position), page 291

4. Remove positive (red) cables (A) from battery posts

first, then remove negative (black) cables (B) from both
battery posts.
