Motion Preferences overview

Motion Preferences let you customize your workspace, tailor the interface for different types
of projects, and define the presets for new projects and exported finished movies. The Motion
Preferences window contains panes that group global settings according to function: General,
Appearance, Project, Time, Cache, Canvas, 3D, Presets, and Gestures.

Open Motion Preferences

Choose Motion > Preferences (or press Command-Comma).

Reset Motion Preferences

Hold down the Option and Command keys while opening Motion.

In the dialog that appears, click Delete Preferences.

Motion opens, and preferences are reset to the application defaults.

To learn more about each of the panes in the Motion Preferences window, choose a topic in the
Help table of contents (the sidebar to the left of this window).

General pane

The General pane of the Preferences window contains global settings grouped into the following
categories: Startup, Interface, File Browser & Library, and Media.

Startup
This section of the General Preferences pane defines what Motion does when first opened.

At Startup: A pop-up menu that sets one of two default behaviors when Motion is launched:
