Angled-Wheel Grinding

Chapter 14

14-8

Upon entry into one of the angled wheel modes the control cancels all
active offsets. Offsets are not canceled when you change between G16.3
and G16.4 mode as long as angled wheel mode is not canceled with a G15
between modes.

Example 14.1

Linear Interpolation in G16.3 Normal Angled-Wheel Grinding Mode

This example assumes a 60

° wheel axis angle.

In this example, the W axis is positioned a positive 40 inches at the same
time the Z axis is positioned a negative 24.64 inches. The resulting final
position is X20 Z10. The combined speed of the W and Z axis will result
in a wheel path feedrate equal to the programmed feedrate of .1.

The W and Z axes must be homed before any programmed motion can
occur on the X axis. If a rotary axis is used to determine the angle of the
wheel axis, that rotary axis must also be homed before positioning on the
X axis can occur.

Canceling G16.3 mode

The G16.3 mode is modal with other modal group 15 G codes. The
following G codes cancel the G16.3 mode:

G16.4 -- Angled-Wheel Two step Motion

G15 -- Angled-Wheel Transformation Off
