Chapter 16

16-23

The format for the G86 cycle is as follows:

G17(XY);
G86Z__K__X__I__Y__Q__L__F__E__P__D__;

G18(zx);
G86Y__J__Z__K__X__Q__L__F__E__P__D__;

G19(YZ);
G86X__I__Y__J__Z__Q__L__F__E__P__D__;

Table 16.F summarizes the G86 cycle parameters. For a detailed
description of these parameters, see the text below and page 16-8.

Figure 16.6 in the previous section shows the axis motions that make up
the G85 continuous plane grinding cycle when the G19 (YZ) plane is
active. For the G86 cycle, these motions would be identical except that the
Z axis (plane axis 2 for G19) would be the plunge axis.

Programming a G86 or G86.1 causes the control to execute a continuous
plane grinding cycle using three axes. “Continuous” refers to the fact that
instead of making cross pick moves, the crossover axis moves
continuously towards its endpoint as the reciprocating axis moves back and
forth across the part. The G86.1 begins with a pre-dress operation prior to
the grind.
