Ingesting media by using an Encode Server

Using the Tape Ingest layout for single or batch ingest

You use the Tape Ingest layout to record the media for placeholder clips from videotapes.

About placeholder clips

The System Database can hold placeholder clips. These are assets that have no associated

media files. They are created, for example, for media that is going to be ingested from a

videotape.

iTX may create placeholder clips automatically on receiving the required information in one of

two ways: either from a traffic system or from a clip list (.ocl file) placed in the Media Store

Inbox. Alternatively, you may create placeholder clips manually.

You can use the Tape Ingest layout to create media files and link the placeholder clips to them;

the placeholder clips then become normal video clips, available for playout.

Options for ingest on the Tape Ingest layout

From the Tape Ingest layout, you can control the recording of media for placeholder clips in

two types of process:

For batch recording, you build a list of placeholder clips in the Batch Ingest control panel

for media that is on a single videotape; you then start the recording process.

For single recordings, you load placeholder clips one at a time in the Encode control panel

and start the recording.
